Vintage kimono silk obi belt scarf - saki ori woven red, orange, pink, brown and white

Vintage kimono silk obi belt scarf - saki ori woven red, orange, pink, brown and white
Sometimes on my travels a find one or two rare and special pieces and I just have to get them….
This piece comes from my secret vintage shop near Hida Folk Village in Takayama. It’s a true Aladdin’s cave of stunning vintage cottons and silks, piled high with rare fabrics and it never disappoints.
This piece is saki ori work. When beautiful kimonos become too damaged to repair and wear they are torn into strips and woven back into an obi belt and this one is a stunner!
The warp threads are black and the woven ones red, orange, grey, black, brown and pinks.
Some of the woven parts are multi-coloured giving a sense of the original pattern of the kimonos used to make the obi.
As you can see from the model, it can be worn in any different ways so is a really versatile piece.
If you have a true sense of style and love this, please make it your own. You know for sure that no-one else will have one.
Looks amazing with a simple black dress, model’s is from Toast.
