Vintage kimono silk obi belt scarf - saki ori woven grey and royal blue

Vintage kimono silk obi belt scarf - saki ori woven grey and royal blue
Sometimes on my travels a find one or two rare and special dream pieces and I just have to buy them….
This piece comes from my special vintage shop near Hida Folk Village in Takayama. It’s a true Aladdin’s cave of stunning vintage cottons and silks, piled high with rare fabrics and it never disappoints.
This is saki ori work. When beautiful kimonos become too damaged to repair their owners just can’t bear to part with them and repurpose them into obi belts. The kimonos are torn into strips and woven back into an obi belt and this one is a stunner!
The warp threads are black and the woven ones grey and royal blue. The silk is super soft and luxurious and it is nearly 3 meters long!
This is a real statement piece… Will it be yours?
You can be sure no-one else will have one.
As you can see from the model, it can be worn in any different ways so is a really versatile piece.
Looks amazing with a simple black dress, model’s is from Toast.
