Vintage kasuri scarf - double width, boro patch mending on the back

Vintage kasuri scarf - double width, boro patch mending on the back
This is a really beautiful, double width piece of vintage kimono cotton. The cotton is soft and feels great against your skin.
It has four unique and different kasuri designs on the fabrics making up the front of the scarf.
It has so many beautiful original patch mends on the back. These are also different types of kasuri.
It really is a special piece and I’ve never seen another one as nice as this in all my travels.
The Kasuri weaving of the original fabrics is technically complex and highly skilled process as the patterns are pre-determined in advance and the skeins of threads are space dyed for both warp and weft. The threads would have been dipped 30 times in Japanese indigo.
This is a beautiful, one of a kind scarf that would make a perfect gift for either a man or a woman.
There are a couple of holes at one edge which I have intentinally left to keep the piece original. I would be happy to mend these with a vintage patch though so contact me if you’d like the repair on purchase.
There’s one edge where the fabric is wider at the join too but this is just part of the unique charm of this piece.
See pics for details.
