Boro piece - Vintage kasuri fabric - indigo dyed - small spot kasuri - two indigo patches

£15.00

Soft indigo dyed kasuri piece with a small spot pattern with two soft blue indigo fabric patch mends on the back.

Patches were often added to add some warmth as part of a larger piece of Boro fabric.

The patch is stitched on using “Nami nui” running stitch in a neat spiral, which was typically used for these kinds of mends.

The stitching is impressively small and neat and extremely hard to see from the front.

Larger stitches were usen the back so very small stitches would be on the visble side of the fabric.

The kasuri (indigo, space dyed threads set on the warp and weft) is simple but very nicely done.

There is a stain line down the middle of the fabric, quite common with these old pieces.
