Vintage indigo kasuri scarf - joined diamonds and lozenges with squares inside

£160.00

I love finding two great indigo dyed woven kasuri fabrics and pairing them together tomake unique and wonderful pieces.

This super long scarf has been made by attaching a beautiful piece of vintage woven joined diamonds kasuri fabric to another piece with lozenges with squares inside. Both pieces come from deconstructed cotton kimono I have discovered in the second hand shops in Tokyo,.

Kasuri weaving is a technically challenging and highly skilled process as the patterns are pre-determined in advance and the skeins of threads are space dyed for both warp and weft. The threads are typically dipped 30 times in Japanese indigo to get the really intense dark blue/black colour of the indigo.

This is a beautiful, one of a kind scarf that would make a perfect gift for either a man or a woman.

There is a small Boro style mend on the joined diamonds piece, see picture.
