NEW Vintage Japanese textiles pack - small kasuri, large kasuri or colour kasuri, stripes, checks, brights
On my recent trip to Japan I discovered a big box of smashing vintage fabrics which included small, large and coloured Kasuri pieces, some nice stripes and checks and some one off brightly coloured fabrics.
Boro pieces in Japan were patched with any fabrics that came to hand so these patches could have been sewn on to clothing or bedding.
The ones I have all come from old, deconstructed kimono from my trusted vintage fabrics seller in Hida, Takayama.
These packs are great for patchwork and mending but are also big enough for a little textiles project like a zip pouch, Kinchaku bag or to embellish a cushion but can be used for many things!
I have limited stock of the patches so when they are gone, they are gone!
You will get a lucky dip of five pieces of fabric with one each of:
Small pattern kasuri
Large pattern OR coloured kasuri
Striped fabric
Checked fabric
Bright fabric (reds/yellows)
I’ve shown all the fabrics in the pics (I have 2/3 of some fabrics but a lot of them only have one piece).
I’ve also included some typical packs you could get.
If you really like one of the combos you can choose it when you click the Purchase button and, if the fabrics are still available, I will try to get you that pack or as close to it as I can.
If the combo is gone, you will get my best approximation or, failing that, a default pack.
Please note:
Some pieces may have small stains, pin holes or cuts from where they have been unpicked from their kimono.
Vintage cottons and linens
Approximate sizes: 33 cm x 33cm
NOTE: Some pieces are long and narrow, e.g. 16.5 x 63 cm
Some pieces are a little larger
Some fabrics are cotton, some linen
Some are softer, lighter cottons and some fabrics are a bit heavier
There may be small holes, small stains and leftover threads from the kimono these pieces came from
It’s a lucky dip folks!
