Itajime shibori silk scarf - all the colours - chained with black
Itajime Shibori typically involves concertina folding and then clamping to create kaleidoscopic honeycomb patterns but my approach is to inject the dyes directly into the silk parcels, which gives a lovely colour distribution.
The process involves a type of Shibori folding technique called “Kikko folding”, with the silk being pressed with the iron to form equilateral triangles.
This one has some great chains in lots of colours and the black brings it all together
Quality silk dyes are injected into the parcels using a pipette.
The resulting folded silk parcels are then steamed to fix the colour.
They are really enjoyable to make as the resulting pattern doesn’t reveal itself until you unwrap the steamed parcels!
